THE ACCOUNTANT- Michael Mwangi.
He smiled as he looked at that piece of paper,
Confirmation had been made that advice was his to give,
Nothing that crossed other people’s minds was similar to his,
They all panicked; he didn’t,
The boardroom was tense and thrilled,
A man of his stature and composure was supposed to present facts,
The board meeting was a most unedifying spectacle,
Few stood up to say something but if they did,
One eye of hope was keenly looking at the accountant to reassure them,
That they were safe,
And the big question pooped up,
“who is to clarify that our investments are secure and our wealth is maximised?”
No one turned to look at him but his voice piped out, “the accountant,”
Many minds were disintegrated,
On the table he had to bring transparency, accountability and integrity,
Smiles were weird and when they flashed a flicker of insincerity was clear,
Some didn’t want others to know of their looting and vandalism,
Others were embarrassed that they didn’t eat at all,
Amidst all the pain, shame, pride and fear,
The hand of the chairman ushered him on,
He stood up with the facts that fully support the firm’s going on concern,
He beamed with satisfaction and his swelled heart ready to empty nothing but the truth,
Slowly he opened his mouth to utter the financial report,
All faces got longer and teeth gnashed for the truth had to be told,
You have to know Mr. Integrity he is your next door Accountant.
